The production process of melt blown cloth is different from ordinary non-woven fabrics

  This process of making meltblown cloth can be regarded as a high-tech version of cotton candy. First, melt the sugar crystals into a liquid, then use a rotating wheel to squeeze the sugar strands out, and use a stick to collect them.   Among them, different raw materials, temperature (heating temperature, indoor and outdoor temperature difference), wind speed, pressure, spinneret extrusion volume, roll speed, etc. will affect the structure of the melt, resulting in different properties and different fields. Take the famous mask melt blown cloth as an example. It is a kind of melt blown mesh. About 40% of the melt is used as a filter medium for oil, air and liquid. In order to make the melt blown cloth have the characteristics of filtering bacteria and particles, a special process electrostatic electret is required

  When the meltblown cloth is charged under a corona of hundreds to thousands of volts, due to the repulsion of static electricity, the fibers diffuse into the mesh, and the size between the fibers is much larger than that of dust, thus forming an open structure. When dust passes through the meltblown filter material, electrostatic interaction can not only effectively attract charged dust particles, but also capture polarized neutral particles through electrostatic induction. The higher the electrostatic potential, the higher the charge density, and the stronger the electrostatic effect.

  Conventional fiber filter materials mainly rely on direct interception, Brownian diffusion, inertial collision, gravity deposition and other mechanical blocking effects to achieve the filtering effect. The electrostatic adsorption between the filter material and the particles is very weak, and the filtering effect is even worse for particles smaller than 1μM.

  However, after corona discharge, the filtering performance of PP meltblown cloth is greatly improved. In addition to the original mechanical barrier effect, Coulomb force is also used to directly attract and capture charged particles in the gas phase, or to induce polarities in neutral particles and then capture them. Undoubtedly, the filtration efficiency will be greatly improved, and the filtration resistance will also be reduced.
